Responsible for all aspects of production from casting through delegation and coordination to achieve the director’s vision of the production within budgetary and practical constraints.
Requirements: Directors are chosen annually after a "Call for Directors." After considering experience, volunteer feedback, and play submissions, directors will be recommended by the artistic committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
(AD/SM) assists the director in all aspects of the production and assumes the run of the show from tech week through all performances.
Requirements: Typically selected by the director of the production. ADSMs must be approved by the Board of Directors.
Moves set pieces on or off stage to spiked locations between scene changes.
Requirements: Ability to lift, pull and push heavy objects.
Oversees quiet activities and gives attention to prevent young performers from interrupting the production when they are backstage.
Acts as the liaison between the board of directors and the production staff. Manages the budget and production staff.
Requirements: Selected by director. Must undergo training with an appointed instructor on CPP-specific producer job requirements and receive approval from the Board of Directors.
Sells tickets and collects payment by cash, check or credit card prior to the show. Must be able to use web applications quickly and intuitively. Must be a problem solver and detail-oriented.
Requirements: Must undergo training with the Audience Committee Chair and/or the Treasurer of the Board of Directors.
Provides choreography for musical productions and is responsible for all dance movements beyond the director’s blocking and placement.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer. Requires approval by the Board of Directors.
Works closely with the hair & makeup designer to ensure that the director’s vision for character appearance is realized. Responsible for all clothing and most accessories that are worn and not used as props. Generally requires sewing experience; however, it depends upon the production and availability of suitable costume pieces.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Sews or alters garments to fit or to suit the character. Supports the costume designer.
Helps keep garments organized backstage between quick changes. May assist with dressing the actors partially (back buttons or zippers, buckling / tying shoes) although this is not commonly needed. May be asked to help sanitize or clean costume pieces between performances. Supports the costume designer.
Ensures the set reflects the director’s vision in keeping with the set design and creates or sources all hand props. Hand props are generally defined as those items handled or touched by the person for added definition of the character or scene. Typically also responsible for sourcing furniture, curtains or similar set dressings.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Helps to source or make props and/or to keep properties organized backstage. May hand props to actors or return them to tables when actors do not have time to do so themselves between uses during tech week and performances.
Works closely with the costume designer to ensure that the director’s vision for character appearance is realized. Depending on the production, this person may need the ability to style real hair, wigs, apply prosthetics, facial hair, and/or apply beauty or special effects makeup.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Follow direction of hair & makeup designer to recreate looks during dress rehearsals and performances. May involve styling actor’s real hair, hair pieces and extensions, and wigs.
Follow direction of hair & makeup designer to recreate looks during dress rehearsals and performances. May involve graphic paint application, special effects makeup, prosthetics and/or facial hair.
Manages all aspects of the house, recruits and trains ushers, and manages intermissions for the entire run.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Assists patrons with finding seats, handing out programs, checking in tickets. During intermission, may provide food and beverage service. Helps to clean the theater (house) before and/or after performances. Typically is standing for 30+ minutes. Supports the head of house.
Ensures that standards for ensuring the safe sale or service of alcoholic beverages are met. Checks IDs, secures alcohol before and after service. Serves drinks and may process payment in the form of cash or credit card.
Requirements: Must be 18+ years of age and completed TIPS Certification.
Supports the TIPS Bartender in selling alcoholic beverages. May be processing payment in the form of cash or credit card.
Requirements: Must be 18+ years old.
Hangs lights, applies gels, and programs the lighting board / software in accordance with the director’s instructions.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer. May need training / approval from the Tech Committee Chair.
Executes all lighting cues at tech / dress rehearsals and performances.
Provides spot illumination according to the lighting design.
Provides musical expertise to productions as required and is responsible for all musical aspects. This may include conducting a band/ orchestra in addition to vocal arrangements and coaching.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer. Requires approval by the Board of Directors.
Plays music at auditions and/or rehearsals as required by the music director. Generally needs to be a proficient sight reader.
Plays music during tech week and performances to accompany singers in a musical. Must be proficient in reading music and picking up new material quickly.
Ability to compose and edit photographs for print and digital media. Takes cast and crew headshots, dress rehearsal and other candid photos. Provides in a timely manner to the marketing and audience committee chairs for promotional and program design use. May assist with the kiosk design and layout.
Designs the production sets in consultation with the director.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Renders objects or scenic elements realistically with paint. Artistic skills necessary.
Builds the production sets in consultation with the set designer. This person is responsible to protect the facility from damage during construction and to ensure safety of all users.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Uses tools and equipment typical of woodworking and follows verbal or written instructions of the chair to build set pieces.
Applies basic painting in simple or single color applications. Artistic ability not required.
Assists with moving materials in from storage to the stage. May assist with construction and painting if capable.
Requirements: Must be physically able to lift and carry heavy materials.
Disassembles set pieces and moves materials used in the production to their designated storage areas. May involve basic cleaning of the facilities dirtied during the production.
Designs the sound for the production using electronic, instrumental and/or practical effects. Ensures proper equipment is installed and functional prior to dress rehearsal.
Requirements: Selected by the director and/or producer.
Uses practical implements to make sound effects, typically live during the performance from offstage.
Runs microphones or recorded sounds through the sound system. Must attend facility-specific sound system training prior to volunteering in this capacity.
Requirements: Must be approved by the Tech Committee Chair.
You may express interest in this group; however, the participants are limited to facilitate effective dialogue and selected to ensure diversity and inclusion. This committee reads submitted plays and helps to select the makeup of our season. It is preferred that these individuals are not planning to direct in the following season.

Scan photographs, news articles, programs & catalog and organize in shared Google Drive.
Requirements: Selected by Audience Committee Chair.
Organize and label physical memorabilia (photos, articles, programs) in scrapbook or similar album format. Part of Audience Committee.
Friendly, welcoming people needed to help explain auditions process to interested performers, print online forms, collect signatures, take photos, and organize files. Part of the Artistic Committee.
Build relationships with businesses and philanthropic organizations in the area to attract their teams to our events and secure donations of time, money and/or goods. Part of the Business Committee
Be a part of a team that plans special events that promote theatre in our community or raise funds for CPP outside of our main stage productions. Part of the Volunteer Committee.
Offers support before and after special events. Typically helps with setting tables, decorations or other activities that don’t require heavy lifting. Part of the Volunteer Committee.

Places posters to promote productions on community boards at area businesses and organizations. Part of the Marketing Committee.
Helps to sort, clean, organize, recycle and/or dispose of items as needed to maintain our storage and administrative space in an orderly fashion. May be needed in-between productions; however, usually is done in the summer months between productions as a "Clean Up Day." Part of the Tech Committee.
Gather costumes, props, candy donations, and provide other general support as needed for CPP’s successful participation in the US Coast Guard Grand Parade. Part of Volunteer Committee.
Help to assemble and disassemble the parade float. A variety of skills are needed, including heavy lifting, fastening, broad and detail painting. Part of the Volunteer Committee.
Wear a costume and hand out candy along the parade route. Part of the Volunteer Committee.
Interns will help them to learn/read lines, choreography, and songs. They also help to supervise the campers during snack breaks and on bathroom breaks (morning campers). They help with props, set construction and/or paint, and other backstage tasks to prepare for and run the performance. Part of the Education Committee.
